How Does SMTP Work

What is SMTP

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, is the procedure behind the email flow on the Internet which is apart of the application layer of the TCP/IP protocol. Using a process called "Store and Forward". In essence, SMTP moves your email on and across networks. It closely works with something we can Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) to send across your communication to the right computer and email mailbox.

SMTP directs how your emails moves from one Mail transfer Agent to another computers Mail Transfer Agent. When we refer to the "Store and Forward" acronym, the message can move in steps and at each step, SMTP is doing its job.
